It’s no secret that I love the South of France and travel there as often as I can. I am charmed by those places, the people, with their special allure, the light and the vibrant colours that seduced so many painters of the past. I love time being suspended, slowing down and learning again to enjoy every single moment.
I went there in April just for a few days, and discovered Nîmes. It is located in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, and it’s the capital of the Gard department. It has a very rich history, and the city is famous for its many Roman remains (all very well preserved) such as the amphitheatre or the Maison Carré. What I loved the most, though, were the lovely Jardins de la Fontaine, designed in 1745, with canals flowing though it. Being early spring they were not at their fullest splendour, but beauty was blossoming all around and it was a pleasant walk.
Then off to the coast to enjoy the Mediterranean sea and the amazing sceneries that Camargue offers at sunset, after a quick visit to Salin the Giraud.
I like to sit on the shore and watch the sun go down below the horizon. Life has never seemed so perfect. There’s no better way to end my trip.
What more could I ever ask for?
