I’ve been to Barcelona many times in the course of these last years, but it’s always a deep joy for me to go back now and then. And every time I go back there I feel like I’m home somehow.
Slowly, with time, I’ve got to know and live the city just like any other citizen there, getting familiar with its different rhythms, sounds, words, habits, cultures. I take the metro and don’t need a map, I walk around as if I were in Turin. With time, you realize that the differences almost disappear, because they’re part of you now.
Yet there is always more to learn and discover.
This last time, my visit was brief, but intense as always. Armed with my 3 cameras (Leica, Nikon and of course my iPhone!), I spent the days in Barcelona among laughs and tears (yes sir, we got even a bit emotional there), deep conversations, photos, good food and wine, music, friends.
No tourist attractions, but the city that “guiris” never look at. It’s the other Barcelona, maybe less famous or attractive, but charming and full of beautiful surprises and stories if you just take the time to look and listen.
Turning on the other side can sometimes be more interesting than just all looking in the same direction.
